Our bs (big story) is about:
The Conquerors of Ignorance
Who are the Conquerors of Ignorance?
Those who preserve and provide access to memories!
Why do people care about the memories of others?
Like asking: &Why are topic maps so fascinating to the people at this conference?&
This big story can be told as a sequence of battles...
The Conquerors of Ignorance include all kinds of information managers. In some sense, everyone who manages information (and almost everyone does), is a Conqueror of Ignorance. Some people devote their lives to problem of maintaining access to memories; such people are often called "librarians", and they are the heroes of the Big Story. They are also my personal heroes.

If, like me, you have the soul of a librarian, you are fascinated by topic maps. Topic Maps are about making memories more accessible. They empower people to share their discoveries of information relevant to any particular subjects, and they allow those discoveries to be combined and aggregated without compromising the fidelity with which the viewpoints from which they originally emanated are represented.
