The merging of reifiers is the heart of the whole Topic Maps thing. Topic Maps facilitate the idea that, in a situation in which there is one subject per reifier, we can calculate our way to where there is one reifier per subject. In other words, we can offer the user an experience in which everything known about each subject can be found in one and the same place.

The ontological engineering aspects of this are pretty interesting, and the rest of this presentation is devoted to discussing those aspects.
